Series Review and New Release: M. Leighton’s Everything for Us!

Can’t believe how many awesome new releases hit this week! But, the one that’s got us all talking is M. Leighton’s EVERYTHING FOR US (Bad Boys #3), the supposed finale in the trilogy.

Love it or hate it, we’ve talked about this series a plenty. And there’s one good reason.

    No, really.

Cash Davenport. The man is the epitome of sex on a stick. YUM.

Or so we thought. Or he still is…GAH! And that’s all we’re gonna say so we don’t blow the series for all you new to this HOTly anticipated finale!

down_to_youIn fact, we’re only providing one BUY link to Amazon and B&N for book 1 just so you don’t accidentally read about books 2 and 3. You deserve the whole Cash and Nash experience without the spoilers! So, THIS REVIEW IS SPOILER FREE!!!!

Normally, we’d just give you the blurb on the book and our review would be forthcoming (which it is). But, there’s more to this series than that!

Those of you who’ve read it know EXACTLY what I mean! I’m going to be crafty and cryptic as to not RUIN this series for you like someone (ahem!) did to ME. I’m not bitter…

The thing that’s got people lovin’ or hatin’ this trilogy appears to be that the plot’s got more twists and OMFG’s than should be possible in just one novel let alone the series! (Other than the THIS MAN series by Jodi Ellen Malpas, but that’s another yummy review to come/story!) To make matters worse, some of these OMFG BOMBS  have even come at the end of the books.

Not always a big fan of that myself, actually.

So, this is why we CAN’T share with you the blurb for book #3 (yet),  if you haven’t read DOWN TO YOU (book 1) or UP TO ME (book 2) all the way 1st.

Instead, this is a SPOILER FREE look at the series and we’re going to give you our take one more time since I re-read it (It’s been since Oct 2012 ) on DOWN TO YOU (book 1) 1st. Then in the next week, we’ll be back with our review of books 2 and 3.

Because I don’t want what JUST HAPPENED TO ME to happen to you.

Up-to-Me-by-M.-Leighton-e1364749179342Somehow I’ve managed to not find out the major spoilers from book 2 UP TO ME for the last 8 months while I waited to read it back to back with this week’s release EVERYTHING FOR US. I wanted to read it all in one big rush. And the Bc gals were so good and never spoiled it for me.

BUT——->Just like with the ending of the Harry Potter series someone ONLINE pulled the rug out from under me before I could read EVERYTHING FOR US myself and BLEW the shocker that is crucial to books 2 and 3. Like to HELL. In 2 sentences.

And it all could have been avoided with a SPOILER ALERT.

I was sooooooo PISSED. Don’t you HATE it when that happens?

Granted, I went on Goodreads on release Tuesday (Duh), but come on! It was sitting right smack-dab in the center of my screen on my GR home page y’all.

What I’d seen couldn’t be unseen. Damn it!

So there I was clipping through book 2 UP TO ME last week when I realized book 3 was releasing this Tuesday (I’d thought it was an October release) and I quickly downloaded book 3 and I was going to happily read them back to back, as planned. Then the cat got let out of the bag. But we won’t do that to YOU! For those of you who are wondering what all the fuss is about…

Check out the blurb for book one DOWN TO YOU:

The scorching tale of one girl and two brothers in a love triangle…that’s not.

Olivia Townsend is nothing special.  She’s just a girl working her way through college so she can return home to help her father run his business.  She’s determined not to be the second woman in his life to abandon him, even if it means putting her own life on hold. To Olivia, it’s clear what she must do. Plain and simple.  Black and white.
But clear becomes complicated when she meets Cash and Nash Davenport.  They’re brothers.  Twins.
Cash is everything she’s always wanted in a guy.  He’s a dangerous, sexy bad boy who wants her in his bed at any cost.  He turns her insides to mush and, with just one kiss, makes her forget why he’s no good for her.
Nash is everything she’s ever needed in a guy.  He’s successful, responsible and intensely passionate.  But he’s taken.  Very taken, by none other than Marissa, Liv’s rich, beautiful cousin.  That doesn’t stop Olivia from melting every time he looks at her, though.  With just one touch, he makes her forget why they can never be together.
Black and white turns to shades of gray when Olivia discovers the boys are hiding something, something that should make her run as far and as fast as she can.  But it’s too late to run.  Olivia’s already involved.  And in love.  With both of them.
Both brothers make her heart tremble.  Both brothers set her body on fire.
    She wants them both.
    And they want her.
How will she ever choose between them?

If you haven’t yet, STOP NOW and GO READ book 1!

Don’t say I didn’t warn you! Super hot twins? Need I say more? Oh, Okay:

“Did you think of my lips when he kissed you?… Do you still want me? Because if you do, I’m all yours.”

“I know I’m staring, but I can’t seem to keep my eyes off the lips that are so close. They look so much like his brother’s. So delicious. So forbidden. And, despite all the reasons I shouldn’t, I want him to kiss me just as badly.

What the hell is wrong with me?”

    -M. Leighton, DOWN TO YOU

I read DOWN TO YOU about super sexy twins Cash and Nash Davenport about a year ago (self purchased long before she was picked up by her publisher and republished YAY Michelle!)  and while everyone else hooted and hollered about the SPOILER ALERT!!! (TWIST), I enjoyed it. Sure, it’s a bit insane, but hey- I loved the heroes and how M. Leighton worked it out; I was willing to suspend some disbelief and it worked for me.

Down to You_cover_m.leightonI kinda liked the sexual whiplash and tension that came from Olivia (Liv) falling in love with polar opposite twins and the problems that caused.

    What I didn’t like?

I’ll go into it more below, but the only major detractor or me was the heroine as a character and her lack of real development over the course of the book. Don’t get me wrong- she’s nice and her dialogue with best friend Ginger is a hoot, but I just didn’t dig all her internal monologue when it was her POV. Maybe she was too nice? I dunno.

Olivia, with her wishy-washy ‘Oh but I shouldn’t! Cash isn’t good for me’ dilemma, and her nasty, condescending cousin Marissa were the only big negatives for me in this super HOT, quick smexy read.

It was like super nice girl  Vs. super bitchy girl and I couldn’t feel for them as characters. But that wasn’t a major detractor as I had Cash and Nash to more than make up for it. Like I was saying, Olivia and her pal Ginger did make me laugh on a couple of occasions and I hoped that I could get behind Olivia and root for her in book 2. (Okay, 2 was…well, I’ll tell you next week…BUT I didn’t mind her in book 3! More on that later!)

So why continue with the book/series?

Hello? CASH. I do love me some Nash (so sexy in his business suits, all forbidden fruit and straight-laced except in bedroom), but ladies, Cash is just DTF but genuinely cares about Liv and to top it all off there’s sweet underneath all that alpha swagger. Pure heart of gold mixed with sex and sin that one.

    What I liked:

    • CASH—->The southern, bad boy charm of Cash- unabashed, full of sex appeal, bravado and business savvy with just the right amount of revealed angst about his not so bad side and journey to who he has become when Olivia meets him mixed in with that cocked eyebrow w/ the little bit of Magic Mike showmanship…(don’t tell us you didn’t see that, too!) Hoo-Momma!
    • NASH—–>Then, not to be outdone, there’s soon to be lawyer brother, Nash, who is everything Olivia wishes Cash could be so she could have the best of both worlds…only when she moves in with her well to do cousin and finds herself increasingly involved in the hot brother’s lives, Olivia begins to wonder just which brother is what he seems and if either or both deserve her heart and soul.

    • You’re not going to hear me say this often…it was too short!
    • Olivia’s niceness and her cousin Marissa’s bitch-factor just felt a bit over the top and as a result I couldn’t really care about them like I did the heroes.
    • The internal monologue when it was Liv’s turn left a bad taste in my mouth, but GREAT NEWS—->she gets better moving forward and I even liked her by book 3.
    • And…I’m not a fan of “cheaters” in romance, but I’m glad I stuck it out that’s all I’m gonna say!

If that’s not enough to hook you…it alternates between Olivia and BOTH Cash and Nash’s POV and while you see some things coming, others will grab and shake you hard! Plus there’s the super HOT sex…AND the ending…it just might have you re-reading just like I did. Did I mention the sex? Oh, good.

    Fave quotes:

“If I ever become a thief, Nash will be the first thing I steal.”

“You bring out the worst in me. What can I say?”
“That’s because you haven’t given me the chance to bring out the best in you.”

    4.25 STARS for Smexyness

4.5 STARS for Love it or Leave it

They’ve got 4.5 STAR ratings on Goodreads, Amazon and B&N for a reason! Be sure to check back for our reviews of books 2 & 3 coming soon! OMG were they HAWWWT! Panty melting! And the bar scene in book 2…

everything_for_us_m.leightonYou can find M. Leighton’s entire BAD BOYS series including just released book 3 EVERYTHING FOR US at Amazon and B & N.

    Happy Reading xo
