Awesome Author Shout Outs 8/26: OMG Sylvia Day’s Reflected In You EXCERPT Owned Us This Week!

Ladies, it’s time for the fall roll out of smexy books. Squeeee! Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God. *snort laugh* (BC gals you know I had to!) This week has been an amazing week for smexy book news, hasn’t it?

I love summer reading, but early fall and late spring are also excellent, exciting times for reviewers and readers as the romance market seems to magically explode with a smorgousboard of quality smexy picks. The more pragmatic among us at BC call this time of year the Back-to-School/Christmas is Coming Blitz. Either way, there’s gonna be plenty of smexy hot books for us to review for our late night reads. YAY us!

Awesome Author Shout of the Week: SYLVIA DAY

Of all the awesome ARCs we’ve received or loaded on our e-reader via NetGalley for review, nothing caused a bigger stir this week than Thursday’s release of an excerpt from Sylvia Day’s dangerously smexy (retitled from the rumored Deeper In You)  REFLECTED IN YOU, the 2nd book in the Crossfire Trilogy and the scorching hot sequel to BARED TO YOU. Geez, to think we had only just got done squee-ing from news that there would be a Book 3: ENTWINED WITH YOU.

If you are one of the few smexy book lovers out there who hasn’t read BARED TO YOU, our (and most folks’) #1 What to Read after FIFTY SHADES OF GREY pick that after nearly four months is currently holding on strong on at #4 on USA TODAY and #6 on both the NY Times Ebook and most impressive the combined print/ebook Bestseller lists where the hell have you been (scratch that!) let us show you the way.

Here’s the teaser (EXCERPT to follow, promise!):

Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn’t stay away. I didn’t want to. He was my addiction… my every desire… mine.

My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful… except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity. We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession…

We know, somehow, there’s still a few of you wondering if Sylvia Day’s books are worth $7.00-$9.00 for an ebook. *SD lovers worldwide are now rolling eyes* Well, let’s just say thousands of click-throughs for a one chapter excerpt of REFLECTED IN YOU crashed Goodreads and put it overcapacity within five minutes of @SylDay ‘s tweet that an excerpt was up.

Just an excerpt people. With scenes like this from BARED TO YOU, you can see why.

    “Are you sleeping with anyone?”

The question was asked so casually it took a second to process what he’d said.

I inhaled sharply. “Why is that any business of yours?”

He looked at me and I saw what I’d seen the first time we’d met—tremendous power and steely control. Both of which had me taking an involuntary step back. Again. At least I didn’t fall this time; I was making progress.

“Because I want to f*k you, Eva. I need to know what’s standing in my way, if anything.”

(–Gideon to Eva within days of meeting.)

Or THIS fave (When Eva *tries* to stay away from Gideon after they admit how F*d up they both are….)

“It’s not the right word, Eva,” he pressed on stubbornly, his lips at my ear. “That’s why I haven’t said it. It’s not the right word for you and what I feel for you.”

“Shut up. If you care about me at all, you’ll just shut up and go away.”

“I’ve been loved before–by Corinne, by other women…But what the hell do they know about me? What the hell are they in love with when they don’t know how f*d up I am? If that’s love, it’s nothing compared to what I feel for you.”
    –Sylvia Day, Bared To You

Now maybe you undestand that even though it took me 5 tries and 20 minutes before I could get on to read it, I was determined. No one else’s RT link worked either. Desperate and unwilling to give up, I had to do some backtracking and find Day’s original tweet and by the time I got through and finished reading…50 more likes had been clicked. That’s like 50 likes per 15 minutes (15- only ’cause the reviewer in me had to make a few notes) and those 50 likes– they’re just the ones who had time to click like before they had to get back to pretending they were still working while fanning themselves and hiding their smartphones under their desks.*serious blush*

After reading that chapter, OMG officially became——>Oh, My GIDEON around BC. We keep finishing each other’s sentences with it.

*Totally SWOONWORTHY* I tell you. Absolute BookCrack! Talk about a break from reality. So, while we have been reading and reviewing several other awesome picks this crazy busy week, we have to admit that hands down,  Sylvia Day’s Gideon OWNED us (still does). As a result, we’ve saved our other shout outs for another day. It just wouldn’t be fair to share the spotlight.

Upon reading be sure to come back and tell us what you think below, on FB or tweet @book_crack. That is– when you’ve gathered your wits and use of your digits for something other than flailing or fanning yourselves *wink*. As for me, I’m sneaking peeks back at Mr. Gideon Cross as I continue to book hop again this weekend between Mr. Cross in BARED TO YOU and Mr. Ian Noble in BECAUSE YOU ARE MINE (parts III and IV).  Just don’t tell him. Mr.Cross is definitely not one to share.

Don’t just take our word for it. Read CHAPTER ONE on Goodreads HERE, NC-17 WARNING–for mature audiences only.

    Enjoy and happy reading Xo
