About

BookCrack™ is a book news, review and community site for online users who can’t get enough of  smexy books whether they’re Fifty Shades of romance or feature vampires, werewolves, shifters, faeries, and anything else supernatural that goes bump in the night!

We’re a group of readers and writers who choose to repeatedly fall down the “rabbit hole” each time we crack open a book, or these days, the cases of our Kindle or Nook. We are addicted to smexy romances, indie pub romances, paranormal romance, and the occasional urban fantasy,  (YA and adult) and the movies/shows that are inspired by them. We think of this site as a place to find and discuss the books that satisfy our need for smexy books and occasional supernatural sweet tooth and feed our need to read one book at a time™.

BookCrack is overseen by the BookCrack team (the BookJunkies/BC Gals). The BookJunkies/BC Gals come from a variety of backgrounds in print and online journalism, advertising, marketing and yes, education. One or two of us have even been rumored to have more than one super-secret-smexy erotic romance or supernatural manuscript in the works.

All content is written and/or edited by the BookCrack team, a.k.a. the BookJunkiesBC Gals, and guest posts are credited as such.

FTC Disclaimer

FTC Disclaimer: Most books reviewed on this site have been purchased by the individuals (BC Gals) reviewing them. You don’t have time to read crappy books and neither do we-let alone the extra time to review them. We reserve the right to turn down any generous ARC offers (and we do quite often) if we feel the book is not of our taste or genre we review.

Some books have been provided free of charge by the publisher, author or publicist. ARCs and NetGalley books will be noted as such. NetGalley books are most often books BC Gals have chosen themselves in hopes of receiving the ebook in exchange for a fair and honest review. Any links to places to purchase books are provided as a convenience, and do not serve as an endorsement by this blog. All reviews are the true and honest opinion of the blogger reviewing the book. The method of acquiring the book does not have a bearing on the content of the review.

Book Review System

The vast majority of books reviewed and gifted as part of contests are purchased by the BookCrack team; however, we do receive free books from publishers that we review fairly for the website. No reviews are given to publishers prior to a book’s publication and the rating system below applies.

We subscribe to the following Rating Scale:

5 stars– An absolute must read! If it were a man we’d marry it. And, no, we don’t care who you are, we can’t possibly loan you our copy. If we were rich and you were our BFF we’d BUY it for you…and everyone else we know & love and make them read it!

4 stars- Really, really liked it. Would strongly encourage you to get your own copy. Might loan you ours..well, only if you were our BFF or supplied us with chocolate. But, if you don’t return it quickly we will hunt you down like the dog you are! Yes, Mom you, too!

3 stars– Liked it, would loan it out, just maybe without major separation anxiety.

2 stars– Sorta-kinda-okay. Maybe. It had promise, but something got lost in translation. Or, as an ebook it held promise, but could really use an editor.  We’ll loan it to you, but probably forget to ask for it back.

1 star– We either didn’t finish it…or finished it because we HAD to…
